The video installation by Alexandre Mazza in this project is composed by an 80-inche vertical screen, which shows a fundamental character – the boxer.
This character is struggling with anguish and exhaustion to find meaning, hope and understanding in life, especially inside his relationships with others, and particularly in love. The boxer is hurt, tired – he almost falls but never gives up.
This work aims to reflect the battle inside our relationships and with the world and the hope for a better connection with each other through strength, power of will and persistence. The boxer stands for where we are in this battle, constantly learning from the everyday fights and persisting to get to a stage where we can stand strong and serene.
It is an encouragement for the viewers to reflect about the meaning of interpersonal relationships in our world and how they are built in our society, as well as a proposition of a new sense of understanding to our communication with each other, not only through images, but beyond them.
